The Sarah Ralston Foundation (SRF) is proud to announce the 41 nonprofit organizations selected to receive a total of $815,000 in General Operating Support grants for 2025. These grants reflect SRF’s ongoing commitment to strengthening Philadelphia’s nonprofit ecosystem and supporting older adults through a wide range of services.
While each grantee offers a distinct mission and approach, several powerful themes emerged this year—underscoring how vital and interconnected the nonprofit landscape is for older Philadelphians.
Information as a Lifeline: Twenty-five grantees are providing navigation, referrals, and access to information—a critical need for older adults facing increasingly complex healthcare, housing, legal, and social systems. From frontline call centers to digital literacy tools, this work reminds us that access to information is not a luxury, but a lifeline.
“Older adults deserve not only support but also clarity and confidence when navigating services and systems,” said Heather Finnegan, Executive Director of the Sarah Ralston Foundation. “Many of our partners are the trusted voices that help make that happen.”
Meeting Basic Needs with Dignity: While innovation is essential, many grantees are also meeting foundational needs like food, shelter, and hygiene. Twenty-one of this year’s grantees provide services that ensure older adults can live with dignity—including meals, housing, transportation, and basic supplies.
“These supports may seem simple, but they are essential,” said Ben Hoyle, Board President. “The organizations we fund are creating stability and respect in the daily lives of older adults.”
Aging in Place, With the Right Tools: From home maintenance and care coordination to wellness programs and tech access, many organizations are helping older adults age in place safely and meaningfully. This includes smaller grassroots groups alongside larger service providers, showing that solutions to aging well come in many forms.
